Prince William County in Northern Virginia is expansive in growth and it’s contribution to the area economy.  The population of Prince William County has grown in recent years at a rate of about 4.4% per year over the past 6 years.  Growth is expected to continue as more high tech employers locate in the county and Prince William County continues to improve the transportation alternatives for commuters.   Prince William County governments have worked hard to provide new and improved highways and by-ways for commuters and daily shoppers and public school buses routes.  Since Prince William includes large undeveloped areas in the western parts of the county, much Prince William County development is located there in Gainesville, Haymarket, Bristow Manassas. 

The opening of the VRE Route from Manassas to Washington, DC provided public transportation for employees from this area for the first time.  The commute from the beginning station 4 miles south of Manassas to DC is an hour and 10 minutes. 

Prince William County is located on 337.8 square miles of relatively level land with the Potomac River to the East offering lovely views of the wide water of the river and a new luxury community of water front homes.

The population of Prince William County is about 350,000 with density of about 1100 persons per square mile.  The density is primarily in the eastern areas along North/South Interstate Route 95.  With new homes offered in the towns of Bristow, Gainesville and Haymarket along East/West Route 66 in Western Prince William County.  Growth was concentrated in the Eastern part of the county until about 1998 when the Western areas
were targeted for residential development.  Smart builders and developers invested in residential housing in the areas along Route 66 to benefit from access to the high tech and Internet job expansion in the Dulles corridor and the Tysons Corner area.  Employees of the High Tech Corridor along the Dulles area find affordable homes in Western Prince William County not available in the more expensive Loudoun County real estate market.
